Since complaining about the organisers’ policy on copyright, which I considered somewhat too far-reaching, I have had reassurances from them about their intended use of submitted work, and taking into account the fact that they are only claiming non-exclusive licences I am withdrawing my objections.
However, I would counsel entrants to be careful. Because only published cartoons can be submitted, they will already have been licenced to a publisher. Entrants would be well advised to seek written permission from the original publisher for the work to be reproduced by the competition organisers in all territories and formats.
