He just won’t leave it alone.
CCGB cartoonist Rich Nairn has collected another year’s worth of observations, experiences and disturbing revelations into a brand new volume. Last year’s added extra was an infusion of poetry, something the bearded-wonder doesn’t shy away from here; but how do you top that? The answer, it would appear, is to go hardback.
It’s a rather delightful thing to hold in your hands. Well produced, good quality and all the better from the fact that Rich has a designer’s eye. But that’s all very well, you might say. What about the content.
As with previous volumes, which you don’t need to have read to appreciate this one (although I doubt Rich would object should you want to check them out), each page is a cartoon-based diary entry, recording what he’s been up to. He’s not afraid to poke fun at himself, which makes the whole experience more entertaining and honest. You just can’t help but smile. The very first entry (January 1st) tickled me something rotten, not least the throw away plant gag. If you fancy a smile, give this a go, and, if nothing else, you’ll recognise that some cartoonists’ struggles are universal.
And if you liked that: Rich’s other books are all available on Amazon. Just tap in Rich Nairn and you’ll find him.
