By Dik Browne

This third collection takes us into 1977 with more Norse nonsense from the mind and pen of Dik Browne. Highlights include Hagar visiting Dr Zook due to the appearance of large black circles on his body. Dr Zook explains: You got big pox. Then there's Hagar sadly turning away alphabet soup because the poor soul can't read.
Part of Hagar's charm is that it draws in both history and mythology into the strip, so each day the strip could be about pretty much anything, although invariably they are used to set dress a gag about a man simply trying to make a living and provide for his family.
There's a short forward by Walter Simonson who wrote and drew Marvel's Thor back in the late 80s, which just seems to be an excuse to get him to draw a version of Hagar in his particular style (it's good too). There's also a rather moving tribute to Dik Browne from his son Chris who went on to take over the strip, as well as some disturbing photos where Dik looks the spitting image of Jim Royal.
Loads of laughs, plenty of smiles, and welcome addition to any cartoon lover's bookshelf.
And if you liked that: There's another on the horizon
