Papa Smurf is a bit of a wiz' with the ol' magic, much to the frustration of another Smurf who looks on envy. His own attempts end in failure and disappointment, so his foolhardy solution is to steal spells from Gargamel, the sorcerer who detests the Smurfs, which doesn't go entirely to plan before taking an unfortunate turn for the worse.
The second tale shows a much more successful Gargamel managing to trap the entire Smurf village apart from Papa Smurf and forcing them into slavery back at his lair, while the third and final story features a myopic mole (strangely with large ears). This is another story with the Smurfs looking slightly odd in their illustration style, although it is still attributed to Peyo. I think it lacks his charm and slick inking, and is flatter because of it.
One for the Christmas stocking of anyone young at heart.
