More grand scheming from the Grand Vizier who wants to be the Caliph instead of the Caliph. This is a collection of five stories created at different times (I'm presuming this because the style of art changes) from Tabary, a gifted and accomplished cartoonist, and Goscinny, a superbly inventive and witty writer. It's easy to dismiss this sort of thing as 'for children' but that would be a real injustice. This is brilliant, clever comedy, delivered as a series of sketches, packed full of juicy puns and satisfying running gags. This collection offers a disastrous first encounter with a computer (inventor, one I-Bee'em), an enchanted road, an Indiana Jones style escapade into the palace dungeons, an Arabic King Midas and toothpaste, and all are potential tools for Iznogoud to use in dethroning the Caliph. A genuine smile-inducing read.
And if you liked that: Don't miss the previous three books in the series
