In the second volume Suzan's father is off to Stockholm to do his ambassadorial duties during the Nobel prize giving ceremony, so, as his aide, Suzan is there too. Here she learns more about the mysterious organisation that has 'recruited' her as she is once again thrust into danger and betrayal against her will.
This is so beautifully illustrated that Van Hamme is able to write in a panel requiring just a subtle facial expression and Aymond delivers it perfectly. The city and the climate are rendered with such detail that it grounds the story in reality and draws you in deeper. As with the first volume, Suzan's escapades are not over-the-top action sequences nor do they rely on ludicrously fantastic bits of technology to complete her tasks, but instead it involves her wits and tenacity to overcome the odds. All round this series is proving a refreshing discovery.
And if you liked that: Volume 3 out soon
