XIII: Where The Indian Walks (vol 2)

By the start of this second volume we know that XIII is suspected for the assassination of the US President (although due to his amnesia he has no way of knowing if this is true) and that a fair few individuals are after his hide. He is trying to trace Kim Rowland, who he believes is a connection to his past, which leads him to a US army base to enquire about her husband who died in a helicopter crash. However, the major at the base recognises XIII and has him detained. From here he discovers his own military past, meets his old commanding officer and learns that XIII himself is Captain Rowland, thought until now to be dead since the air crash. Unable to make too much headway, XIII is taken to his home and meets his family who have also believed him dead, so family politics, particularly with his uncle who he threatens to usurp and his father's new young wife, take a disturbing turn for the worse.

Twists and turns aplenty here, as Van Hamme's thriller weave's its mystery, and at quite a fearsome pace too. It's not clear where the story will take us next, but so many threads are being played out that you're left intrigued as to want to what happens next. Get this on your reading list.
