This really is a lot of fun. Bit close to the knuckle at times, splendidly inventive, and supremely funny, this should appeal to anyone who has dabbled with a ten-sided dice or who just likes a good comic. Be warned, though; it's not one for the kids.
Millennium Boy, Steve, Lash and Nerdgirl continue their quest to find the missing pieces of the Atlantean Resonator Guitar. The further they get the more outrageous things become, from violent battles with trolls to a Gliding Charger that has a novel hiding place about the person, and with each encounter the band steadily upgrade their resources, skills and abilities. This aspect is so incredibly daft but handled so well that you just can't help grinning broadly each time it happens, so lovingly does it mock the role playing games it parodies.
You don't really need to know any more than that to have an excuse to read this. It's daft, it's a work of genius, and you probably won't read anything this offbeat this year.
And if you liked that: Book three out soon
