A slight change of pace for this Largo tale, and one that brings us to another arm of the W Group. This one involves a TV production company, a TV network, and some brazen tax avoidance, and, bizarrely, Largo's friend Simon who has somehow landed the lead role in the production.
Largo is quick to suspect something dirty is going on, but whoever has made the arrangements has the W Group over a barrel, leaving them in trouble regardless of how they handle it, but Largo remains determined to shut the production down. Of course, this doesn't go down well with his friend Simon who has become accustomed to the lifestyle of a west coast leading man.
The deeper he digs, the bleaker the situation becomes, and before long Largo finds himself in a world of prostitution and human trafficking, and on the run.
The corporate reach of the W Group opens up a multitude of story possibilities, and Largo's unconventional approach mean these are a million miles away from stuffy, boardroom dramas. Van Hamme uses the opportunity to give us a bit of back story for the motivations of one of the main supporting characters.
The story concludes with Largo in yet more trouble, another senior W Group figure appearing to be up to no good, and a classic cliffhanger, so all in all another riveting read from Francq and Van Hamme.
And if you liked that: Story concludes in volume 8
