A stupendously meaty tome and no mistake, featuring 50 years of cartoons from the pages of one of the UK’s most important publications. Broken down into decades, the intention has been to avoid many of the topical cartoons that date so quickly and instead concentrate on the timeless gags. Also included are sections on the Eye’s more prolific cartoonists that give an insight into how they work and they got started.
There are many Cartoonist Club of Great Britain members represented, both past and present, across page after page after page of cracking cartoon gags. A definite must-have for anyone who enjoys cartoons. What more can I say? If you like cartoons, you’ll love it.
And if you liked that: Although there’s some repetition, try and lay your hands on an older Private Eye title, The Penguin Book Of Private Eye Cartoons
