The CCGB Malta Minicon for 2016 will soon be here and it has proved as popular as ever!
So much so that we are almost fully booked! We reserved a number of rooms at the lovely Pergola Hotel & Spa and they have now been filled. BUT….there may well be some non-reserved accommodation available, so if you’d like to come and join us, get in touch and we’ll check availability of accommodation and get back to you right away.
There will once again be a large amount of cartooning! There will be cartoon competitions! With prizes! There will be trips out! There will be cartoon workshops! There will be demos! There will be discussion of such engrossing topics as technique, clients, how to get into cartooning, how to draw funny, and there will be a large amount of larking about!

Where is this Malta Minicon of which you speak?

Err… can you be more precise?
The Minicon will take place in the Pergola Club Hotel & Spa, Adenau Street, Mellieha, Malta. It’s a lovely friendly well equipped hotel. The staff there really like us, and the hotel has all the facilities we need at a very reasonable cost.

Can I bring the family?
Of course! Bring your wife, Husband, partner, friends, children, next of kin, in-laws, anyone you like. The Pergola is very family friendly, and so are we. Several members brought their kids with them on previous minicons and they are always made welcome. We love them to join in. Several talented offspring have beaten us hard bitten pros in the cartoon competitions in the past.
What about Flights to Malta?
You need to book your own flights out to Malta,so that cost will clearly depend on the airline you choose and when you book.
Is there a Registration fee?
Yes. There is a small Minicion Registration fee of £25 per cartoonist to cover various up front costs such as materials, pens, paper, competition prizes, that kind of thing.
Any other costs?
There may be a few charges for things like transport hire for trips out, or for the big End of Minicon meal, or for some group meals out, but these will be kept as low as possible, being partly subsidised by your friendly CCGB. That wil depend on our final schedule of events which has not been finalised yet.

Simple, just email us or use the usual contact details in The Jester and let us know you want to come along. He’ll book you in and give you any further info you need.
The Minicon itself is from 13th – 20th Feb, but you can arrive earlier and depart later if you like. The Pergola is quite happy to accommodate your stay around the main Minicon dates for the same costs as shown above.
Will it be warm and sunny?
The weather in Malta at that time of year is better than the UK. It is often sunny, and often around 19ºC. But it can be chilly too, so take some warm clothes along just in case.
I’m new to the CCGB, will I be made welcome?
Yes! We’re a very friendly mob. You are guaranteed a warm welcome by your fellow cartoonists. Getting together, cartooning, and mucking about is what we’re here for!
