There's this bloke – you may have seen him – who can't seem to let five minutes pass by without scribbling a cartoon down on the nearest flat surface. With so much quality and, indeed, quirksome, material hanging around, the obvious answer as to what to do with it was to stick it on a blog and share it with the world. And that's what Tim Harries has done. But blogs are becoming two a penny these days, and it's increasingly difficult to wade through the bad stuff to find the good, so Mr Harries has compiled a small, neat publication on that old-fashioned material known as paper of his blog's 2009 best bits. A reader's digest, if you will, and ideal for getting a flavour of the blog and of his work without the need to switch on a computer. Perhaps this medium will catch on.

Besides from witty-asides, quick doodles, and observations on the events of the day, this magazine-booklet-thingy (s'alright, Tim's not sure what to call it either) there's a running feature entitled Strange Looking Bloke Wednesday. Every Wednesday, a strange looking bloke presented for your entertainment for no other reason than they're funny looking, and how strange that this simple idea can generate such a smile in the reader. Is the reason Mr Harries is such a pleasant and mellow chap down to the fact that all his manic exuberance and peculiar tendencies are given life through his drawings? It's like some twisted-fairytale where he's compelled to draw them or suffer their fate.

At £2.50 it's a bargain, and you won't fail to be amused (I was laughing by the time I got to the Rake's Progress on the first page), and the beauty of it, unlike so many books and other publications, is that when you've finished it you can just hop along to the blog and carry on enjoying it every day.

And if you liked that: There's absolutely loads more on Tim's blog: www.agagaday.blogspot.com
