Our late member Pete Shea had a small collection of work by other cartoonists and illustrators. His daughter Liz kindly donated the items to the Club and said that Pete would have wanted any proceeds to go to the Club, of which he was a keen member for 40 years. We are keeping most of it but this is a particularly interesting item. It is a signed artist’s proof print by Batman illustrator Jerry Robinson from 1978. It also carries a personal dedication to Pete, who would have met Jerry during the 1979 Club outing to New York.
I auctioned it on eBay where it fetched £53; the proceeds after costs will go to the Club’s coffers. Thanks to Liz for passing it on to us.
