“Anyone in the vicinity of Nuneaton between October 3rd and November 29th might care to drop in to a small exhibition of my cartoons in the landing gallery at the Art Gallery & Museum. The exhibition has been assembled by the museum as part of The Big Draw.
The cartoons, though only a dozen or so in number, represent a wide span of my cartooning career, ranging from some from my early days, single gags published in the Sun, through some from my editorial political/social comment stuff in the Daily Star and up to one of my Punch covers (the cartoon that gave the exhibition its name, ‘Don’t Let It Fool You.’ ) Each cartoon is annotated, giving some background info. Yes, I can remember all the cartoons, even though I can’t remember what I had for breakfast this morning!
It’s amazing (to me) that, 33 years on from when I drew that Punch cover cartoon, I’m still drawing cartoons for a living!
I shall be attending on October 2nd to open the exhibition at the private view and also to unveil a cartoon the Museum commissioned to commemorate their centenary, which will be in 2017.”
